⛽SMR's won't be here until the 2030's, big tech is turning to gas turbines for now⛽

Small Modular Reactors (SMR) are the hottest technology in nuclear. They are fission reactors that are manufactured assembly-line style, and each module can be quickly deployed to provide 50-300MW of 24/7 reliable power. They have been in use since the 1950’s, but due to regulatory hurdles, we won’t see any grid-tied units deployed in the US until the 2030’s. Because of this, tech companies are preparing to rely on natural gas turbines to power their data centers until SMRs can be installed.
